Internal Assessment

Semester 2

You must Design and Execute one experiment selected from the following topics.

The experiment should be designed such that it is possible to execute it at home. No time will be allowed in the lab for this experiment.

Each student must design and execute their own individual investigation.

You must identify all the relevant variables in your experiment:

• independent
• dependent
• controlled

You must write an individual lab report, according to the IB Internal Assessment Criteria.

Deadline:the lab report should be handed in to Rémi Poirierbefore the last day of the semester.

Choose one of the following objective:

Topic 1:

Investigate the flow of a substance through a constricted opening.

Topic 2:

Investigate one parameter influencing the angle of repose for a conical pyramid of granular material.

Topic 3:

Investigate one parameter influencing the surface tension of water.

Topic 4:

Investigate one parameter influencing the focal length of a lens made of gelatine (jello).

Topic 5:

Investigate one parameter influencing the efficiency of a siphon.
